O mais recente exemplo é o projeto Soofa, uma rede de sensores que promete movimentar vários bilhões de dólares no futuro, segundo especialistas. Instalado ao longo de parques da cidade e no campus do MIT e do Babson College, trata-se de um simples banco de praça capaz de exercer várias funções.
Seu painel solar capta e armazena energia, possibilitando recarregar seu celular em suas saídas USB. Seu software avalia o nível de barulho e qualidade do ar, enviando informações para consultas em seu website, o que ajuda os habitantes a programarem suas atividades, como, por exemplo, evitar corridas em ambientes mais poluídos.
